About the festival
PETRA LIGHT FESTIVAL is a privately-funded event that aims to bring people and places together through art, creativity, history, and technology. It is the first digital art festival in Jordan, and it presents high technical and artistic quality, as well as outstanding art full of emotion, storytelling, and content. The festival combines the past and present in mesmerizing and colorful ways, creating an inclusive, immersive, engaging, and memorable experience for locals and tourists alike. Its goal is to establish an annual tradition in Jordan and to bridge the gap between different cultures and languages in one of the 7 wonders of the world. It also aims to reposition Petra as a crossroad of civilizations and to celebrate Jordanian culture, traditions, diversity, and tourism locations. The festival will attract both tourists and Jordanians and invite them to engage with the events and with each other, creating a unique and authentic festival experience.
The Experience
The Siq of Light
Prior to the main event, guests are invited to explore the Siq (a narrow gorge trail) featuring a series of illuminated stations that showcase the natural beauty and artworks of the area.
The Treasury Illumination
They are then invited to the opening of the Treasury for an immersive, multi-sensory performance that appears across the Treasury's façade and can be viewed from any angle. This performance transports visitors on a journey through the heritage of the Nabataeans and the wonders they held, guiding them from the heart of Petra to the depths of its beauty.
The immersive 3D mapping show lasts around 30 minutes, the whole experience duration is 90 minutes. We suggest arriving early to explore the illuminated stations before the show and enjoy the full experience. If the spectating area reaches maximum capacity, guests will require to wait until the following show.

The Artists Behind the Creation
Andrei Visuals, the visionary artist studio based in Amman, Jordan, not only created Petra Light Festival but also designed and produced the spectacular opening show titled "Birth of Light" for the event. The "Birth of Light" show, crafted by the diverse talents of architects, visual artists, musicians, and technical experts at Andrei Visuals, served as a mesmerizing introduction to the Petra Light Festival, setting the stage for the awe-inspiring displays of light and art that followed.
With a focus on contemporary artwork and the synthesis of digital media and material objects and spaces, Andrei Visuals is constantly experimenting and discovering new ways to express the ever-changing living environment. Driven by a passion for creating immersive and engaging experiences that inspire and delight, dedicated to push the boundaries of art and technology.
Participating Music Artists
RICHA, the home grown talent, crafted an enchanting and immersive musical score that wove seamlessly with the visual artistry of the show, a well-known 'Open Format DJ' in the Middle East who has performed alongside industry big names like John Legend and Bob Sinclair. He has collaborated with 8e Art, an entertainment house in the region, to launch a project that combines old Arabic/Oriental sounds with trendy house music. The project involves RICHA DJing alongside a live band of Arabic instrument players, and will be launched on April 23rd, 2023, during the Petra Light Festival.
